After the celebrities have proved – or not proved – their cooking ability in the first round of heats, the remaining four are set a challenge to test their knowledge and skill set.
Faced with a tray of spices and three leafy vegetables, they must identify each product before being asked to make a lamb kofta, hummus and a flatbread in just 15 minutes.
Later they are split in two for their mass-catering challenge – a lunch for the 100 members of staff at the Francis Crick Institute. The two teams must devise, prepare and serve the lunch, catering for various tastes and make a meat-based, vegetarian and dessert dishes for the masses.
Finally, the celebs must cook a faultless two-course meal that will not only be judged by John and Gregg but also by Celebrity MasterChef champions Ade Edmonson, Emma Kennedy and Phil Vickery.
