Given that England have already lost the series you might think there is little point in watching the final Test of the series, other than the hope that England might get at least one victory during their tour of the subcontinent.
However, there is more to it than this. The main issue is that there has been a swell of speculation regarding Alastair Cook’s position as captain. There are rumours that Cook is ready to pass on the mantle of responsibility and there is a possibility that popular choice Joe Root could become captain. As a result, this Test could well end up being Cook’s swansong – as skipper, at least.
You will have to be up pretty early to catch all the action from the M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as the match starts at 4am, but it might be worth it.
