As a Teessider, it seems odd to me that for all the devotion there is football where I live, the one sport we can say we currently come top of is darts.
Hopefully Glen “Duzza” Durrant won’t object to that, as he is a big Middlesbrough fan and wears the football team’s crest on his shirt. However, he will be out there at the Lakeside trying to retain his title. He will face another player from the North East, Northumberland’s Gary Robson, or Brunei’s Pengiran Mohamed in the first round.
