Having begun over the weekend, the darts at the Lakeside is the latest of the sadly ever increasing number of sporting events that the BBC have lost the rights to.
At least part of the coverage went to Channel 4, meaning that it is still on a free-to-air channel, although they do share it with BT Sport. Today sees the continuation of the first round and the preliminaries, featuring among other people David Cameron. No, not that one – he’s a darts player from Canada. Tomorrow will see Scott Waites start his defence of the title, but the No. 1 seed, Glen Durrant (pictured), is already through to the second round.
The coverage has been good so far, although it would have been better if C4 didn’t have Rob Walker presenting for them, who to me always comes across as a bit grating.
The BDO World Lakeside Professional Championship is on at 12.35 on Channel 4 and 18.45 on BT Sport 1.
