Prof. Alice Roberts returns for the sixth series of the documentary series examining various archaeological excavations around the country.
The opening episodes starts by looking at digs in the west. These include a trip to Staffordshire where they have found the oldest Iron Age gold in Britain, namely a set of torcs from 2,500 years ago.
Also unearthed are a camp from where the Vikings attacked Britain, and new discoveries found at the Avebury stone circle that may change the way we look at Stonehenge.
Digging for Britain is on BBC Four at 21.00.
