Monza is one of Formula 1’s most iconic circuits and could play a pivotal role in where this year’s championship ends up.
The Italian Grand Prix celebrates its 87th birthday this year. Indeed, this is the 83rd time the event has been run at Monza and the passionate home fans will be willing a Ferrari win.
With the season at the midway point, 2017 has been a tale of two teams: Mercedes driven by Lewis Hamilton and Valteri Bottas have battled it out with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen and Championship leader Seb Vettell, and it is Vettell who hold the advantage with a slender seven-point lead over Hamilton.
Ferrari have failed to register a win on the circuit since 2010, and though the Prancing Horse is in terrific shape, the Mercedes has dominated practice. Whether that superior performance translates itself to race day, you’ll have to tune in to find out.
