Preview – FA Non-League Trophies

While the FA Cup is all well and good, today sees some very small football clubs get their chance to shine at Wembley.

Later this afternoon is the FA Trophy, played by teams up to the fifth tier of English football, are Brackley Town from the sixth tier of the league, taking on National League side Bromley, who came fifth in the league.

However, possibly the match to look out for is the FA Vase at 12.15, featuring teams from no higher than the ninth tier, so all the clubs taking part in it are tiny. In the final this time are Stockton Town and Thatcham Town. Now, I must admit to some bias here, as I’m from Stockton (we’re home to the world’s most northerly hippo, they’re not – although admittedly, we’ve lost the fossils). We are certainly making a big deal out of this and are really keen to win at Wembley – which is something that Middlesbrough have never done.

Stockton Town v Thatcham Town is on BT Sport 1 at 12.00 (kick-off 12.15).

Brackley Town v Bromley is on BT Sport 1 at 15.45 (kick-off 16.15).
