The long road to the next major international football championship begins.
Having come fourth in last year’s World Cup, Gareth Southgate’s campaign for next year’s Euros begins tonight, and he will be hoping they can improve on their horrific performance in 2016 when England got knocked out by Iceland.
Fortunately, getting there should be easy. In fact, their hardest opponents in their qualifying group are tonight’s opponents, the Czech team. The other sides in the group are Bulgaria, Montenegro and Kosovo. A victory at Wembley tonight will certainly be the best way to start everything off.
England v Czech Republic is on ITV at 19.00 (kick-off 19.45).
