Preview – Football: Wales v Republic of Ireland

Wales Ireland

Today is the final day of the group stages of World Cup Qualifying, and the two of the teams playing each other are British Isle states.

Wales and the Republic of Ireland are second and third respectively in their group, separated by a single point. This really is a must win game for both sides, although thanks to the presence of Gareth Bale you would think they would be favourites going into the match.

However, even a victory won’t guarantee automatic qualification, because if Serbia defeat Georgia then the best that either Wales or Eire can do is come second.

Wales v Republic of Ireland is on Sky Main Event and Sky Football at 19.00, and S4C at 19.15 (kick-off at 19.45).
