England are the favourites to win a major football championship. I never thought I would ever be writing these words.

But that is where England find themselves, as the top seeds left standings after beating France in the quarter-finals. Not only is England the top seed left, but we have the highest goal scorer, Jodie Taylor, partly due to her hat-trick against Scotland. However, their semi-final could be the toughest match yet, as they are against the hosts, the Netherlands, so they are up against a hostile crowd, without injured goalkeeper Karen Bardsley and suspended midfielder Jill Scott.

Before this however, there is the other semi-final to deal with, between giant-killing Denmark who knocked out favourites Germany, and surprise package Austria who have never been in the Euros before this tournament.

Women’s Euro 2017 is on Channel 4 and Eurosport 1 at 16.30. Denmark v Austria kick-off at 17.00, and Netherlands v England at 19.45.
