Preview – Formula One: the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Baku

Having previously held the European Grand Prix last year, the first Azerbaijan Grand Prix in name is held today in Baku.

Like Monaco, it is a street circuit, but we are guessing that Baku is less luxurious than Monte Carlo. The Baku circuit is certainly lower (Baku’s the lowest capital city in the world, being below sea level) and longer. It’s the second longest circuit used in the tournament, with one lap being around 6km long.

Sebastian Vettel is currently leading in the drivers’ championship, with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas close behind him. However, Hamilton and Bottas’s Mercedes team lead the constructors’ championship.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is on Sky Sports 1 at 12.30 and Channel 4 at 13.00 (race starts at 14.00).
