Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams star as partners Max and Annie whose ritualist game-night in with friends goes off the rails after the host, Max’s big-shot brother Brookes, is kidnapped and held to ransom.
Bateman and McAdams are supported by admirable performances from their cast mates including comedians Jesse Plemons and Sharon Horgan. Kyle Chandler becomes the abducted host, Brookes, while Into the Woods’ Billy Magnussen plays singleton Ryan. Lamorne Morris and Kylie Bunbury round off the main cast.
Competitive gaming couple Max and Annie find their weekly games-night up-staged by the arrival of Max’s big-shot brother, Brookes, who promises the group a night to beat all others. But Brookes’ success is not all that it seems and when he is held-ransom by an enigmatic mob-boss, the group find themselves playing for much high stakes than just bragging rights.
