The great war between ice and fire has arrived and as our heroes steel themselves for the battle ahead, the white walkers and their undead legions lie in wait at the gates.
In what is promised to be the most ambitious battle sequence in the history of cinema and television, episode 3 of Game of Thrones’ final series sees the Night King’s forces attack the Stark’s home and seat of power, Winterfell. Expect breath-taking set-pieces, heart-wrenching tragedy and plenty of shocks along the way. Will your favourite characters find their way through the long night?
Kit Harrington and Emelia Clarke star as the leaders of the living, Jon Snow – now revealed to be Aegon Targaryen – and Daenerys Targaryen, while the likes of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gwendoline Christie and Iain Glenn also score major roles in the episode. Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams appear as Stark sisters Sansa and Arya, and are joined by Rory McCann’s Sandor Clegane, Liam Cunningham, as Ser Davos Seaworth, and Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister.
Months of planning and preparation have all boiled down to this moment. The night king has crossed the wall into Westeros leaving a path of death and destruction in his wake, and now his forces are assembled outside of Winterfell. House loyalties and petty rivalries will have to be put aside as the forces of the living lay all their cards on the table and prepare to make their final stand, but – without the help of the ironborn and the Lannisters – will their best efforts even be enough?
Game of Thrones – Monday 10:00pm on Sky Atlantic.
