A new series of ITV’s art documentary starts by examining the early life of Pablo Picasso.
While his time in Paris was where his fame reached its height, this episode made by Phil Grabsky also looks at his work in Malaga and Barcelona. It was around this time that Picasso had his famous “Blue Period”, and in 1907 he created one of his most famous pieces: Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, an early cubist work depicting five prostitutes in the nude.
This programme asks exactly how from these works Picasso became the great figure he was.
Great Art is on ITV at 22.45.
