The Great British Menu is back this week and this time around, the chefs are vying for a chance to cook at a banquet celebrating the country’s NHS and the inspired work done on a daily basis by those working in it. This week sees three chefs from the North-East battling it out for their chance to compete in the finals but standing in their way is veteran chef Angela Hartnett and they’ll have to impress her if they want to progress.
The new series kicks off with the North-East starters with returning chef Danny Parker drawing from his own experiences in hospital to create a tea-themed course to rival new-comers Dan Fletcher and David Coulson. Dan finds himself under pressure as he struggles to incorporate all 30 elements of his complicated starter while David takes a risk by serving up an ode to the NHS’ organ donation scheme with his offal dish.
Great British Menu – Monday 7:30pm on BBC2.
