The Great British Menu returns this summer in celebration of the NHS and its 70 year of service to the UK. This week saw three chefs from London and the South-East – returning champion Selin Kiazim, James Cochran, who’s Jamaican-style cooking impressed veteran judge Tom Aikens, and Kentish chef Scott Goss – battling it out for one of two places in the regional final.
The two remaining chefs – having impressed veteran judge Tom Aikens – now find themselves recreating their dishes for the imposing figures of series regulars Oliver Peyton & Matthew Fort, newcomer Andi Oliver and guest judge Jenny Turner who is Britain’s longest serving nurse at the age of 77. If the chef’s thought the heats were difficult, the heat is about to be turned up massively as they come under the scrutiny and exacting standards of the panel where only perfection will be good enough.
Great British Menu – Friday 7:30pm on BBC2.
