Hull has been celebrating its status as City of Culture this year, and this programme looks into its trade in handmade items, presented by local artist Linda Brothwell.
As it is a port, most of Hull’s traditional trades are nautical. Among the people featured include Joe Irving, a boat builder who can five years making a single yacht. Also covered are potter Gabriel Nichols, and compass maker Brian Walker.
Some of the odder establishments visited include a fishmonger’s, complete with their own fish-gutter.
Handmade in Hull is on BBC Four at 23.00.
