Preview – Harry’s Heroes: The Full English

Harry's Heroes

Harry Redknapp takes on his weightiest challenge of his footballing career so far as he is challenged to whip a team of legendary former England players into shape in time for one last grudge match against their rivals, Germany.

Among those hoping to roll back the years is Liverpool legend John Barnes who becomes Harry’s assistant for the project, while the likes of David Seaman, Matt Le Tissier and Robbie Fowler all join the squad as they attempt to recapture the form of their youth. Redknapp enlists Arsenal legends Paul Merson and Ray Parlour to lead the line from the front as well as ex-Liverpool players Neil “Razor” Ruddock and Mark Wright. Rob Lee, Chris Waddle and Lee Sharpe round off the squad.

In the first of two episodes – the second being shown at the same time tomorrow – Harry gets the team to ditch the post-match pints and lavish meals they knew in their heyday for the rigorous diets and exercise regimes of the world’s biggest stars today. But when an early test match against a team of school boys brings up worrying results, Harry and his team realise just how big of an undertaking this is. Will they be able to turn the team around in time for the grudge match against the German legends?

Harry’s Heroes: The Full English – Monday 9:00pm on ITV.
