This sitcom is already feeling like a big deal for one simple reason: John Cleese is in it.
Cleese plays the suitor to his widowed neighbour Edith (Alison Steadman) and both plan to move abroad and live out their retirement in the sun. However, their plans are ruined by the arrival of Edith’s 50-year-old son Roger (Jason Watkins), who has just gone through a divorce and has decided to move in.
This is a sitcom that you feel doesn’t matter if it’s good or not, because people will be tuning in to see the legend Cleese back on our screens.
Holding the Sunset is on BBC One at 19.30.
