Hunger games catching fire

They cheated the game-makers in their first Hunger Games but now the Capitol want revenge. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutchinson reprise their roles as the battle-royale-winning pair Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in the second of four films based off of Suzanne Collins’ riveting dystopian novel trilogy. Also returning to their roles are series mainstays Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth and Donald Sutherland, while newcomers Sam Claflin, Jenna Malone and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman bring something fresh to the games.

After fighting their way to survival in the arena last time out, victors Katniss and Peeta are finally free to live their lives out in the “victors’ village” in their native district twelve – or so they thought. The newfound celebrity status – and infamy given their defiance of the game-makers last time out – as well as the ominous warnings from the country’s tyrannical leader, President Snow, have thrust Katniss and Peeta into the spotlight, making their hopes of a normal life all but non-existent. Worse still, to mark the 75th annual hunger games – otherwise known as the quarter quell – Snow and his team of game makers call all previous victors back into a newly designed arena for a special “celebration” of the games where winner takes all in a battle of the most blood-thirsty killers in Panem’s history. Katniss and Peeta triumphed against a group of other kids, but will fortune favour them a second time?
