Who would have thought that the star of one of Britain’s most famously loveable sitcoms would star in one of the darkest comedies around?
The Good Life’s Felicity Kendal stars a partially sighted author of soft porn named Patricia in the final Inside No. 9 of the series, as one of the guests of an art gallery, featuring an exhibition by the deceased artist Elliot Quinn (Johnny Flynn). Also visiting the gallery are dowdy Irishwoman Jean (Fiona Shaw), idiotic reality TV star Carrie (Morgana Robinson), snooty art critic Maurice (Reece Shearsmith) and a dull health-and-safety officer called Kenneth Williams (Steve Pemberton).
There has already been plenty of speculation concerning the contents of the episode, as there is one guest star appearing in it whose identity cannot be revealed. Whatever happens, one thing we can be certain of is that there will be a fourth series.
Inside No. 9 is on BBC Two at 22.00.
