Having beaten South Africa in the ODIs and Twenty20 formats of the game, it is time to go to Lord’s for the first test match.
As South Africa are currently the second best test nation in the world, these four test matches are arguably a baptism of fire for the new team captain Joe Root (or should that be pronounced “Rooooooooooooooooooooooooot”). Not only that, but after this England have more home matches against the West Indies, and then it is time once again for the Ashes.
It’s hard to tell what is going to happen over the next five days, but it certainly be good to see how the new skipper takes to the role.
International Cricket: England v South Africa – First Test is on Sky Sports 2 at 10.00. Highlights are on Channel 5 at 19.00.
