Some people just refuse to learn from the past; the owners of the swanky new theme-park Jurassic World fall foul of just that. Following a similar premise to Jurassic Park, the beloved 90s franchise – which gets a fresh lick of paint, a rebranding and a shiny star-studded new cast in its 2015 revival – the film is directed by Colin Trevorrow. Chris Pratt takes the lead role as animal handler Owen Grady, while elsewhere Bryce Dallas Howard, Irffan Khan and Nick Robinson all hold major roles.
Built on the sit of the old Jurassic Park complex off the coast of Costa Rica – the stylish luxury resort, Jurassic World, offers its guests an unrivalled immersive experience with its safari-esque exhibits of genetically engineered dinosaurs. That is until the park’s main attaction escapes, wreaking havok on the once idyllic island resort. It then falls to Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), an animal handler who specialises in raptor handling to help evacuate the park and restore order to the island. Inadvertently joined by the park’s operations manager, Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Grady is sucked into a non-stop fight for survival as the pair make their way through the park’s exhibits pursued by the park’s main attraction; a very dangerous, and very hungry, hybrid dinsoaur ominously named Indominus – a creature designed by the park’s scientists to be the ultimate predator.
