The BBC’s serial production of the classic French drama, Les Misérables, comes to its thrilling conclusion this week on BBC One.
The French revolution is in full swing. As rebels across the country march against their oppressors, Valjean seeks out Marius at the barricade where tensions between revolutionaries and loyalists come to a tragic and dramatic climax. Javert’s pursuit of Valjean takes an unexpected turn and he finds himself questioning his view of the world in captivity. Valjean himself, having evaded capture and the bloodbaths in the streets, is forced into making a heart-wrenching decision but underestimates the compassion of those closest to him.
