Channel 4 has made a success of documentaries over small time period in various institutions, from hospitals to police stations.
Life Behind Bars comes from HM Prison Low Moss, Glasgow, and sees inmates meeting their loved ones during visiting hour, as well featuring interviews with wardens and other prison staff.
Among those featured tonight include Gary, a clearly remorseful convicted murderer who is visited by his fiancé Charley; and Mark, who during his visiting hours gets to meet his granddaughter for the first time ever.
Life Behind Bars: Visiting Hour is on Channel 4 at 21.00.
