Where do you go if you’re considered too dangerous to be left on the street but are too mentally unstable to spend life in prison?
Channel 4’s documentary, Life on the Psych Ward, follows the stories of three men, all of whom have a violent past but instead of a life behind bars, they have spent their days on the Psych Ward at Bethlem Royal Hospital.
Tony, James and John live on the ward alongside more than 100 other patients and, after years of treatment, they are finally coming to terms with their crimes and the pain their behaviour has caused. We watch as they take their first steps towards an independent life away from the safety constraints of the hospital but will they ever be able to slot back into civilisation?
Life on the Psych Ward, tonight on Channel 4 from 9pm
