The BBC’s premier stand-up showcase has had mixed fortunes. Some might see its move a few years ago from BBC One to Two so it could be “edgier” as still being a downgrade.
Even if the comedy is edgier, most of the performers are familiar faces, albeit good ones. The host of tonight’s episode is Sara Pascoe, appearing alongside one-liner man Gary Delaney. New to the show is the gay Glaswegian Larry Dean, who I have seen live and know to be top-notch.
Live at the Apollo is on BBC Two at 22.00.
