It’s the stage in the competition where all the heats start to muddle together, but I defiantly have my eye on the ones to watch!
Tonight the third round of heats kicks off and eight more budding chefs enter the MasterChef kitchen to prove they’ve got what it takes to take their cooking further.
If you’re not familiar with the drill yet, the first challenge – the market invention test – asks the candidates to create one dish from the market produce, which this week includes chicken legs, quail and lamb rump, as well as prawns, salmon and mackerel. The three cooks that fail to impress will be sent home.
The remaining cooks now face what has been described by previous contestants, as the most daunting challenge in the whole competition, they must now cook two courses for the 2011 finalists Sara Danesin and Jackie Kearney as well as champion Tim Anderson. The bar has been set high to impress judges John and Greg.
