Unlike most series, MasterChef follows a slightly different schedule, each week sixteen hopefuls battle for their place in Friday’s quarter-final.
Tonight the six cooks from this weeks heats return to the kitchen to face a gruelling test set by restaurant critic, Tracey Macleod. Her challenge is to make an exceptional dish, choosing from one of two briefs she has given them.
They must cook either a savoury dish that uses rice as the star of the show, or a dessert that features almonds. After cooking their dish, they hear what the judges think of their food and how well they have kept to the brief.
