We approach the summit of this year’s competition and with only 5 amateur chefs remaining, things are heating up in the kitchen. Hosts Greg Wallace and John Torode return again to judge each chef’s performance while also providing insight and quippy back and forths to keep viewers entertained in the off-time when the cooks are working.
With 5 remaining contestants soon to become 4, the competition sends our finalists to Carlton Towers – a listed Victorian country house in rural Yorkshire. Once in the kitchen, the five amateur cooks are asked to plan and prepare a lunch for the lord and lady of the household as they play host to some of Yorkshire’s finest local producers and farmers, including author and shepherdess Amanda Owen, rhubarb farmer Robert Tomlinson and Simon Eyles MD of Yorkshire tearooms Bettys. The chefs won’t be alone however as they will find themselves under one of the country’s most exciting young chefs, Michelin starred Tommy Banks.
Following their exploit in north Yorkshire, the contestants will return to the Masterchef kitchen, where they will have 2 hours to devise a dish which encapsulates a place they love. Whose creation will leave a bitter taste in the judges’ mouths and who will have the flair and creativity to keep their Masterchef dream alive?
