There will be many people surprised that this is still going – on the grounds that it is surprising that anyone in Midsomer is still alive after 20 years on air.
That might explain that the crime drama is only back for two new episodes. In the first of these, a new brewery opens up on the site of an old abbey which is supposedly cursed, and thus has angered some of Midsomer’s more superstitious residents, and the local real ale society. Later, John Barnaby and Jamie Winter (Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix) are called upon when a man has been founded boiled to death one of the brewery’s vats, in a scene similar to an execution that occurred on the same sight centuries ago.
Midsomer Murders is on ITV at 20.00.
