Preview – Mind Over Marathon

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Nick Kowles

The London Marathon takes place this weekend and this year, a group of ten runners you may not expect to participate, will be taking part. Each living with or affected by different mental health issues, the BBC’s two-part documentary, Mind Over Marathon, follows the training regime of the ten runners before the big day.

Set up and heavily supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, Heads Together is the campaign supported by the runners as they aim to tackle the stigma around mental health.

Tonight we see the group meet for the first time at the training camp, each arriving with a different story and reason for running the race.

Among the ten runners is Rhian who struggles with PTSD and anxiety after losing her one-year-old son and husband in the same week, Shereece who has postpartum depression after giving birth to her first child and Jake, who wants running to be his way of controlling his depression.

As the team set about preparing for their first training race – a 10k run – Nick Knowles interviews the royals as to their personal involvement in the campaign.
