Preview – Monty Don’s Japanese Gardens

Monty Don

Monty Don looks at some of Japan’s extraordinary gardens, and some surprisingly British connections to them.

Among these connections include a cherry tree that had died out in the Land of the Rising Sun, but had somehow found its way to Sussex. Meanwhile, in Japan Monty visits the earliest surviving boating garden of Japan’s Heian period (794-1185 AD) and learns about the art of flower arranging.

Monty Don’s Japanese Gardens is on BBC Two at 21.00.
