While Morecambe and Wise may feel the most British of comedy duos, in the 1960s they did attempt to crack America.
In the 1960s, they made several appearances on the USA’s biggest variety programme, The Ed Sullivan Show. This three-part documentary presented by Jonathan Ross charts this journey and how they had to alter their act for American audiences, before setting down in Britain.
