A new series of the Sky Arts documentary series begins with stand-up Romesh Ranganathan travelling to America to profile one of greatest comics in history.
Richard Pryor was a man who certainly had his fair share of both success and tragedy. He was one of the greatest comedians ever, but much of his humour came about from his tragic background. He did routines about racism, growing up in a brothel where his mother worked and suffering a heart attack. Not that many comics are able to make personal observations like: “When you’re on fire and running down the street, people will get out of your way.”
In this documentary Ranganathan talks to those who knew the man in order to and understand his life.
Passions: Richard Pryor by Romesh Ranganathan is on Sky Arts at 21.00.
