Paula (Denise Gough) is a young chemistry teacher whose affair with with handsome PE teacher Philip (Edward MacLiam) has gone stale. As she tries to draw a line under the relationship, she also juggles her dysfunctional family and the chaotic life of her alcoholic brother. To add to her woes, she has rats in her basement and employs handyman James (Tom Hughes) – who turns out to be a very handyman as the pair end up in the sack.
However, far from being the antidote to Paula’s problems, the one-night stand signals a darker series of events as Philip is reported missing – having called her mobile the night of his disappearance.
