Piers Morgan is like Marmite, you either love or loathe him but – and even the haters will agree – he does the chat show format quite well. He’s no David Frost, he’s never going to get to that Nixon moment but he is disarming enough to be able to keep his guests talking while steering them into topics they’d rather not discuss.
This week’s guest in the chair is arch Brexiteer and former UKIP firestarter Nigel Farage who, having stepped away from the carnage caused by last summer’s Leave decision in the EU Referendum, talks about his life, his friendship with Donald Trump and his recent marital tribulations. Like his host, Farage is a polarising figure and admissions that he chants songs about the Second World War at football matches and is a difficult husband shouldn’t be too difficult for viewers to accept.
