Preview – Pointless

Pointless 2
BBC/Remarkable, part of Endemol Shine Group/Mark Yeoman

Today a new series of Pointless begins, which does bring up the one major gripe I have with Pointless – the fact that runs of new episodes seem to start and stop without warning.

When they make a series of Pointless they don’t broadcast the whole series in one go. They keep breaking the series up into chunks, so they show some new episodes, then all of a sudden they will show repeats. They won’t make an announcement on the TV. You have to check the listing in advance to make sure what you are watching. The problem is then that because they are showing repeats you drift of and sometimes miss the fact they are now showing new episodes again.

But as they are now showing new episodes, we can enjoy Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman testing some more obscure knowledge, from sport to countries (by which we mean any sovereign state which is a member of the UN in its own right).

Pointless is on BBC One at 17.15 every weekday.
