Here we go again, another season of the BBC period drama, in which our hero Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) does some acting and then gets his kit off to do something manly and gaze longingly into the distance, while the female following of the show gaze longingly at the TV.
It’s 1794 and the impact of the French Revolution is felt in Cornwall and throws up a whole new set of complications and challenges for Ross. The peace is further disturbed by the arrival of her Demelza’s deeply Methodist brothers Sam and Drake Carne, played by Tom York (Olympus) and Harry Richardson (Doctor Thorne).
The Carne brothers aren’t the only new characters to arrive in the south-west – it seems that Ross’s reputation precedes him and some of Cornwall’s most powerful families want a piece of him.
Poldark – Sunday at 9.00pm on BBC1.
