The Sky Arts talent series is now getting a free-to-air broadcast on terrestrial TV, airing on Channel 4.
For those not familiar with the format, nine portrait artists are given a time limit of four hours to paint a celebrity’s portrait, with the show’s resident judges deciding who progresses into the grand final at the end of the series. The programme is hosted by Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell, and the celebrities in this first edition of the fifth series, which first aired in February, are Andi Oliver, Geraldina James and Matthew Goode.
It’s good to see Sky allowing some of its shows to air to a wider audience. If only they did that with their sports coverage too.
Portrait Artist of the Year is on Channel 4 at 17.00.
