Preview – Premier League

Premier league

We approach the final game week before the international break this week and, as the other competitions begin to get under way, the hectic fixture lists begin to pile up. Coming into this week, Liverpool have seized Manchester City’s top-spot after the latter slipped-up against newly-promoted Wolves last weekend, while Chelsea, Tottenham and Watford are the only other teams to take all points from their opening matches. Elsewhere, the pressure is on for Jose Mourinho as his perfect has been tarnished by back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Tottenham.

The weekend begins with Liverpool face a tough challenge as they travel to the King Power Stadium to face-off against Claude Puel’s Leicester – a team which has frustrated the reds in recent seasons – in the early kick-off. In the main-bulk of games, Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace will be hoping to restart their season against a struggling Southampton side following a tough couple of games, while Everton host Huddersfield at Goodison Park.  Brighton, after making an impressive start to the new campaign, take on new-boys Fulham and a struggling West Ham face a stern test against a defiant Wolves team. Chelsea host Bournemouth in the final game before the current champions take on Newcastle.

Sunday’s games see Arsenal travel to the Welsh capital as they take on Warnock’s Cardiff City before we see a clash at the top of the table as Spurs do battle against Watford. Finally topping off the weekend’s action Mourinho’s Manchester United face a tricky visit to Turf Moor against a rugged – albeit recently faultering – Burnley in a game which both teams will see as a must-win.

Premier League – Available Saturday and Sunday on Sky Sports, BT Sports and Now TV.
