The Emmy-nominated US comedy drama returns for a second series.
Ramy brings a new perspective, exploring the challenges of a New Jersey man caught between a Muslim community who see life as a moral test and a millennial generation that thinks life has no consequence.
Now back in NJ after his trip to Egypt, Ramy finds himself addicted to both sugar and porn. Looking for guidance, he meets with his imam – which doesn’t yield the hoped outcome. He eventually comes into contact with a sheikh (played by Mahershala Ali) from a local Sufi centre who becomes his new spiritual mentor. They enter into an Islamic oath – the Bay’ah – setting Ramy off on a new journey with its own obstacles.
