Preview – Rugby League World Cup: Australia v England

Rectangular Stadium

This event is possibly one of the few World Cups to take place in three countries.

New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Australia are hosting the Rugby League World Cup, with the Aussies playing against England in the opening match at Melbourne’s Rectangular Stadium, which has to be the least imaginative name for a sporting ground in the world (with the possible exception of The Oval).

Among the notable players for the England team are brothers Sam and Tom Burgess who both play rugby for South Sydney and so have experience down under.

Australia v England is on BBC Two at 9.00am (kick-off 10am)
