Comedian Catherine Tate is doing some serious investigating, examining the suffering that many British bulldogs go through in their lives.
One problem is that the dogs are so popular that many are smuggled into the country illegally in order to meet demand, with little concern for the dog’s care. Even then, the years of breeding have led to the dogs suffering many health problems, including difficulty breathing. Tate interviews owners, breeders, vets and members of the Kennel Club to find out what, if anything, is being done.
Saving the British Bulldog is on BBC One at 21.00.
