Douglas Henshall as DI Perez in shetland

In the wake of Lloyd’s secret past being uncovered, Perez tries to get the measure of the man as evidence emerges of another bombmaker.

Lloyd reveals he was framed for the murder of a police officer in America and fled the death penalty. Having relocated to Shetland and found love with Alison, Lloyd lived in fear of his true identity being revealed. Confirming that only Connor knew this secret, Perez wonders whether this could be a motive for murder.

Fragments from Connor’s caravan suggest he was interested in the Braer disaster from the 90s, when crude oil spilled onto the Shetland coast, devastating local industry. The team consider whether this could be Connor’s bomb-making motivation, interviewing locals Ally Flett and Jamie Narey, whose families were most affected by the incident.

The net closes in around Martin after Abbie reveals he’s been photographing everything but wildlife. Martin knows the game is up, but insists to Perez he’s no bombmaker. What follows is a startling confession which unsettles the entire investigation.

Alison is blindsided by Lloyd’s past, but remains steadfastly loyal. Meg is wary about getting in too deep with Perez, and disaster looms when a fully laden oil tanker becomes a target.

Stars Douglas Henshall, Patrick Robinson and Laurie Brett.
