Preview – Spectre

Daniel Craig dons the mantle, once more, of 007 in the titular spy’s latest outing; Spectre. Supporting Craig, amongst the cast list, are Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz and Andrew Scott, while veteran director Sam Mendez does a commendable job running the show behind the scenes.

Picking up a few months after the events of Skyfall, the film sees a political power struggle within MI6 – on the one hand the newly appointed M (Fiennes) favours traditional means of running the intelligence bureau while the leader of a privately backed security agency; Max Denbigh (Scott) believes a multi-national intelligence community is the way forward, deeming the “00” programme obsolete. With Bond grounded, he decides to go rogue, carrying out an investigation into a shadowy organisation known as spectre which boasts involvement in the event of every recent bond film; Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and, now, Spectre. As the mystery deepens Bond must save MI6 from itself and find out who and why one man, within Spectre, is targeting him.
