Stabbed

In 1993, Duwayne Brooks and Stephen Lawrence were attacked by a knife-gang while waiting for the bus in an incident which would claim Stephen’s life and leave Duwayne deeply traumatised. Now, 25 years on from the death of his friend, Duwayne explores the resurgent epidemic of knife crime which is sweeping across the UK.

With knife crime at an all-time high across the country, the BBC’s latest crime-documentary sees Duwayne Brooks OBE investigate what draws young adults into such lifestyles and what effect it has on those caught in the crossfire, their local communities and their families. Duwayne meets the victims’ grieving families as they cope with the loss of their loved ones and begin their fight for justice. On the other end of the spectrum, Duwayne engages with the perpetrators to understand what is making more and more young people turn to knives, and he explores what is being done to stem the violence.

As the casualty rate continues to rise, Duwayne revisits the traumatic experiences of his own past in what is a hard-hitting and revealing look at one of the biggest challenges facing the country.
