Prof. Brian Cox and Dara O Briain’s astronomy show returns for a brand new series – but is not returning to Jodrell Bank.

This time the duo have gone to Australia to take a special look at the southern sky, featuring stars that are impossible to see in Britain. These include the Southern Cross that is depicted on the Australian flag, and one of the most spectacular views of the Milky Way on the planet.

Across the series we can expect to learn about the tales on the night sky as told by the Aboriginal Australians; how the Aussies helped to rescue Apollo 13, the link between the Moon and the Great Barrier Reef, and how the country is our first line in when it comes to protecting us from threats from space. Once again, there is also your chance to help make astronomical history, as the show attempts to fine the missing ninth planet in our solar system (more details here).

Stargazing Live Australia is on BBC Two at 20.00 between Tuesday and Thursday this week.
