Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, Station 19, debuts in Europe today – one month after its release in the USA. The show follows the life and work of a station of brave fire-fighters – namely acting captain of the station, Lieutenant Andy Herrera – who risk their lives tackling anything from arson to forest fires to bad-cooking. The series stars Jaina Lee Ortiz as Herrera alongside Grey Damon, Alberto Frezza and Danielle Savre – Grey’s anatomy’s writer Stacy McKee is the show runner.
Off the back of one of its parent show’s episodes, Station 19 begins with commanding officer Pruitt being injured while tackling a fire, forcing young Lieutenant Andy Herrera to step up and assume leadership over her teammates. Ben Warren – who incidentally has made the jump from Grey’s Anatomy to the new spin-off – is a rookie to the squad and struggles to adjust to the intensity of being out in the field rather than on the hospital ward.
Station 19 – Wednesday 10:00pm on Sky Living.
