Last week saw the first episode of the BBC’s new cooking competition – The Big Family Cooking Showdown – in which families join forces to make ordinary family favourites, extraordinary. Trying to mirror the lighthearted humour and ‘niceness’ that the Bake Off was known for, this new show features forced family banter awkward encouragement from presenters Zoe Ball and Nadiya Hussain.
Tonight we meet the Karim family from west London and the Dawes family from Hampshire. Cooking both in the studio and in their own homes, the Karim family embrace their Indian heritage whilst the Dawes family try to impress the judges with bold flavour combinations.
